Your Appointment
Before any treatment, appointments always start with talking - so I know what is most important to you.
What to expect
Your first appointment begins with a short form to fill in, then a conversation about why you’re seeing me, your general health, and any relevant medical history, as this can influence your treatment.
I will then examine you, so please wear comfortable clothing or underwear suitable for treatment - for example, cycling shorts, briefs, or a bra top. I’ll explain what may be causing your symptoms and outline how I plan to treat you.
Treatment involves a combination of hands-on techniques. I will explain each one before using it, and at every stage you can let me know if you’d rather try another option. Some techniques may involve a ‘click’ or ‘crack’, but I can use alternative approaches if you prefer.
You may feel a little sore for 24 - 48 hours afterwards - this is normal. After the hands-on treatment, I’ll show you some exercises or stretches and give practical advice to support your recovery. You are always welcome to contact me with any questions after your appointment.
Home Visit Practicalities
I bring a portable treatment couch, so I will need a suitable space to set it up, usually in a living room or kitchen. If you are unable to get on and off the couch, please don’t worry - treatment can be adapted to suit your position and the space available.
Please have the following items to hand if possible:
A hand towel
A large bath towel or blanket for the couch
A couple of pillows or cushions
Surface wipes or kitchen roll with cleaning spray
Moisturising lotion (such as E45 or hand cream; helpful but not essential)
Access to somewhere I can wash my hands
Pets are very welcome to stay during the appointment. However, some animals may become anxious when a stranger is providing hands-on treatment. If this applies to your pet, please ensure they have a comfortable space elsewhere for the duration of the session.
Appointments for Babies
Home visits are particularly well suited to babies, as treatment can take place in a familiar and comfortable environment. This helps babies remain relaxed and can reduce stress for parents. Most examination and treatment is always gentle and can be carried out while your baby is on your lap, on the sofa, or feeding.
Benefits of home appointments for babies include:
Familiar surroundings, helping reduce stress for both baby and parent
No need to travel with a newborn
The opportunity to observe your baby in their usual environment, including sleeping arrangements, feeding positions, and daily routines, which can sometimes contribute to discomfort or tension
Advice tailored to these factors, where appropriate
A flexible approach adapted to your baby’s individual needs
